The story behind the photo of this 1969 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Holiday Sedan goes like this: a few weeks ago I was in Buffalo’s Old First Ward waiting for my ride to the Key Bank Center for the first round of this year’s NCAA March Madness basketball games. Looking up the street I saw the big sedan pictured above approaching and got my phone out, while at the same time a guy on a bicycle looked like he was about to reach me at the same time. Would I get the photo, or would the guy be in the way? Doesn’t he stop right in front of me, and start calling me a wino… or so I thought. He was trying to tell me that the albino deer often seen in the neighborhood was right behind me. Somehow, I got pictures of both! Most days you don’t see too many of either, anywhere. Lucky day! Olds called the Ninety-Eight “…a masterwork of classic elegance.” I guess the same could be said for the albino.
