RealRides of WNY - 1972 Impala

We came upon this 1972 Chevrolet Impala twice last summer at the Summer Celebration Car Cruise in Brant: once in the parking lot before the show began, and later (with the top down) in with the other participants of the cruise. The Impala was of course available in a full range of body styles: four-door sedan and hardtop, two different two-door hardtops, and (sort of) as the Kingswood station wagon, which shared the Impala’s trim level (the Brookwood was equivalent to a Biscayne, and the Townsman a Bel Air, while the Kingswood identified with the Impala and the Kingswood Estate the more luxurious Caprice lineup). Of the Impalas, Chevy opined “Impala. More car pound for pound. Inch for inch. Mile after mile.” Chevy sold almost 611,000 Impalas for model year 1972, not counting any station wagons.
