RealRides of WNY - 1950 Chevrolet

Remember the days when some car manufacturers offered you just two engine choices? They were: Take it, or leave it. A case in point was this 1950 Chevrolet DeLuxe two-door sedan, which we came across last summer while bicycling on Grand Island. Chevy wasn’t yet offering a V8 — their only engine was the 92-hp valve-in-head inline six which, to its credit, for 1950 had ”…[a] completely new Power-Jet Carburetor of improved design and new valve capacities” which were said to make the engine “…even more powerful, even smoother in operation and more positive in acceleration.” When we first saw this car I was pretty sure it was black; now I’m not so sure, as the photo makes it look like it could be Windsor Blue.
