I swore to myself I wouldn’t say this out loud to anybody, but when I saw this 1939 Ford De Luxe pulling in to the parking lot of a recent cruise night at the Made In America Store in Elma… yes, out of the corner of my eye (and not my good eye, I might add), I thought it was… gasp… a VW Beetle. Apologies to the owner. You can tell this is a De Luxe and not the Standard model Ford from the grille. Standard models used a version of the 1938 De Luxe grille, which is the bottom car in the brochure illustrations seen below (the top photo is the '39 De Luxe).
