Here’s one of the rarer RealRides to come along in a while — a 1971 Ford Torino GT convertible. Only 1,613 of them left the factory, but we found this one a couple of weeks back at a Sunday cruise night at Hoover’s Restaurant and Dairy in Sanborn. Ford urged its drop-top shoppers to “…enjoy the sun, moon and stars. And a breeze or two.” Standard power for the Torino GT was a 302cid V8, but this one appears to be equipped with an optional 429 CJ-R — the “CJ” standing for Cobra Jet, while the “R” means it has Ram-air induction along with the thru-the-hood Shaker Scoop seen on this car. Which probably makes this example even rarer. Nice.
