RealRides of WNY #2276 - c1945 tractor

And now for something completely different: a c1945 McCormick-Deering 0-4 Orchard tractor, spotted a few weeks ago (in a lineup of old tractors) on a Batavia roadside. The Orchard was a narrower-than-usual tractor designed to fit between rows of trees. The shielding built around the rear wheels and dashboard/steering wheel section was to help prevent parts of the tractor from getting caught on low-hanging branches. There were also Grove and Vineyard models available. As you can see by the hood markings, these tractors were built by Chicago’s International Harvester Company.
