Relatively rare (20,766 produced), this 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner was spotted outside of a Wheatfield restoration shop a while back (an even rarer ’58 Skyliner lurked inside the shop out of camera range). Ford billed the Skyliner as “The miracle car of this generation… TWO cars in ONE!” Somewhat true, as this convertible had a retractable hardtop (which disappeared into the trunk) rather than a folding canvas top. Although, the length of that trunk, needed to accommodate the top, really threw the styling proportions off on these cars. Still, a neat idea which didn’t quite catch on at the time, but one that has certainly made a comeback in modern times. — Jim Corbran, RRofWNY The post RealRides Of WNY appeared first on Buffalo Cars.
