RealRides of WNY

This 1979 Mercury Cougar XR-7 was trying to hide in the Cheektowaga brush a couple of weeks ago, but the RealRides camera sniffed it out. When the Cougar nameplate debuted for 1967, it was a much smaller car, competing with Mustang, Camaro, Firebird, and Barracuda in the Pony Car market. But it grew. And grew… finally abandoning all pony car hope and dipping its paw into the personal luxury/intermediate sized-car market. It eventually disappeared and reappeared twice as two very different cars in the late 80s and early 2000s.
