Black Beauty 2 proclaims the vanity plate on this 1952 Buick Special, photographed a couple of summers back during a car show at the NACC (Niagara Arts & Cultural Center) in downtown Niagara Falls. The special was Buick’s price leader, but was still a big, full-sized automobile. How big? Buick tells us that the wheelbase is “…a convenient 121-1/2 inches,” while the overall length checked-in at 204.8 (7.3 inches longer than a 2017 Buick LaCrosse). Under that massive hood is Buick’s straight eight, “The Fireball Engine,” as a new, modern V8 was still a model year away.
