This 1963 Pontiac Star Chief, seen a few months ago in Pendleton, straddled the middle of the full-sized Pontiac line-up — it wasn’t quite as fancy as the top-line Bonneville, but it did share the Bonnie’s 123-inch wheelbase, whereas the lower-rung Catalina rode a 119-inch wheelbase which it shared with big Chevys. I realize I’m a bit simple-minded, but I always found the big Pontiac’s lineup to be confusing. Apparently a lot of consumers felt the same way, as the brand was finally phased-out after model year 2010.
