You could probably say that this 1959 Pontiac Bonneville marked the division’s transition from a mere stepping stone up the GM hierarchical ladder (for those who’d outgrown their Chevrolets), to a very desirable, stylish full-size performance car. This was the first year of the Wide-Track sales campaign, and the buying public went all-in. Kudos to Pontiac General Manager Semon E. “Bunkie” Knudsen for seeing the writing on the wall and turning around Pontiac’s fortunes. They remained a sales success for years to come. Saw this one a while back in Albion.
