This 1954 DeSoto Firedome was just one of the beauties at last week’s Cruising the Q car show on Queen Street in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The Firedome was at the top of DeSoto’s lineup in 1954, equipped with a 276.1 cu. in. V-8 (thus the rear fender badge), while the cheaper Powermaster had a 250.6 cu. in. straight six under the hood. Firedomes outsold Powermasters almost three-to-one; four-door sedans like this one racked up more sales than the combined production of the Powermaster’s five body styles: 45,095 vs 19,204.
