If you were a Ford family buyer, and wanted something a little fancier than a Mustang back in the day, you might have found yourself gravitating towards something like this 1971 Mercury Cougar. This one is from the first year of the second generation Cougar, a body style that would last until the nameplate went uptown for MY 1974, becoming an intermediate and sharing a platform with Ford’s Elite. Saw this blue example last week in Tonawanda.
