Chrysler Corporation was into the third model year of its groundbreaking designs when this 1959 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer was new. One of the more unusual features of this car is the monotone paint scheme. When you attend as many car shows as I do in the course of a year, you get the impression that 99 percent of all cars from 1955-1959 were two- or three-toned, often with just as many hues on the inside. I have to wonder what future generations will think when they see the black, white, silver, and gray “classics” of the current era in car shows twenty years down the road (if there’ll even be such a thing). Came across this blue beauty a few weeks ago in Derby.
