This 1974 Datsun 260Z doesn’t look much different from the 240Z which was introduced in Japan as the Fairlady Z in 1969 for model year 1970; the first U.S. models appeared in the fall of 1970 as 1971 models. The 240Z had a 2.4-liter inline six engine; for 1974 (and 1974 only) the engine was given a longer stroke and enlarged to 2.6 liters (thus, the 260 designation); for 1975 another increase brought about the 280Z. Model year 1974 was also the first year for the (some think) ungainly-looking 2+2 model with an elongated roof and a back seat. Came upon this green example in downtown Buffalo earlier this summer.
