It was no surprise to find that this 1967 Pontiac Tempest Custom didn’t have a speck of dust on it anywhere… it’s owned by RealRides reader Steve Gatesof Akron, proprietor of Steve’s Pro Cleaning. Gates is the car’s second owner, having bought it for $2,900 30 years ago from the original owner — who lived right in the same neighborhood! Yes, this car has spent its entire garaged, pampered life in Akron. Under the hood is Pontiac’s 326 cu.in. V-8, and it’s connected to a column-mounted automatic transmission. Those dog dish hubcaps are original to the car, but the redline tires are a more recent addition from Coker Tire. The interior is upholstered in something that Pontiac called elegant all Morrokide; the brochure also seemed pretty proud of the ball bearing ashtray. You’d never think it to look at it, but Gates’ car has 152k on the odometer! Very nice.
