Seeing this Forest Green Metallic 1967 Imperial Crown over the weekend in Hamburg reminded me of when a friend told me I couldn’t write about a 1960’s-era Imperial without mentioning Milburn Drysdale. Yes I can. Hah! The Crown four-door hardtop was Imperial’s best-seller for 1967, but such niceties as air conditioning, tilt wheel, headrests, and full-tinted glass were listed in the brochure as optional equipment. I’m not sure what kind of Imperial buyer opted for the extra-cost reverberator for the rear seat radio speaker (the radio also was optional. The radio!), but I’m sure he/she was always the hit of whatever party they attended. At least there was no mention of poverty hubcaps.
