We could probably put this 1973 Buick Centurion into the Forgotten Model Names file. Available only during model years 1971-73, it took the place of the Wildcat as the “sporty” full-sized Buick, nested price-wise between the LeSabre and Electra 225. For MY 1974 the Centurion name was dropped, and a LeSabre Luxus model filled the price gap (but, only for one year); to further confuse things, there was also a pair of mid-sized Century Luxuses (Luxi?). By this time, what with gas shortages and rising fuel prices, the era of the big “sporty” car was dead and gone. And those 12mpg-family car days will never be missed. Found this really bright Apollo Yellow convertible over the summer in Kenmore.
