A recent family trek to Seattle, Washington to visit with our first-born, unearthed this Volkswagen Vanagon, c1986. The trip also seemed to answer the question: “Where did all of the old VW buses go?” Answer: They’re in Seattle! Seemingly every last one of ‘em! You couldn’t turn a corner without coming across a gen-1 or gen-2 Type 2, Vanagon, or even a Eurovan; stock, nice, crappy, hippified, graffitied — you name it, they’re on the streets of Seattle being used as daily drivers. This particular blue one at first glance appeared to be wearing a set of (well, if three is a set) plastic K-Mart wheel covers. Further investigation showed that they were stock VW Vanagon plastic wheel covers. Oh well!
