RealRides of WNY - 1967 Ford Fairlane 500/XL

This 1967 Ford Fairlane 500/XL convertible is a distant cousin to the Fairlane 500 four-door sedan (below) which was driven by Harry Morgan and Jack Webb on the remake of the Dragnet television series (actually called Dragnet 1967), which debuted in — you guessed it! — 1967, and ran for four seasons. The 500/XL was once the top of the Fairlane lineup; however, by 1967 it had been topped by the Fairlane GT and Fairlane GTA (GTA being the automatic transmission-equipped version of the GT) which were Ford’s mid-sized entries in the burgeoning muscle car category. Saw this red 500/XL a few years ago in Niagara Falls.
