THEY’RE EVEN BETTER IN PERSON

by Jim Corbran, Automotive Columnist Where to go to see some awesome classic cars (besides here, of course). Try getting off of your lawn chair and heading over to a Cruise Night or weekend car show. They’re everywhere! Here’s a scant list to get you started (figure all outdoor shows to be weather permitting): Manx Over the Falls, the national Manx Club will gather in WNY from June 25-28. The Manx club’s first event to ever be held in the northeastern U.S., their dune buggies are scheduled to be on display in Buffalo’s Front Park on Saturday June 27 from 9 am – noon. At 1 pm they will drive down to the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park Quaker Steak & Lube Thursday Night Cruise-In every week @ 5pm. 6727 Transit Rd. in Lancaster Hoover’s Dairy Store Classic Car Show Sundays at 5pm. 6035 Ward Rd. in Sanborn Cruising With Wendy’s 5pm – 8 pm: Wednesdays in June, Tuesdays in July and August, and September 1 at 360 Dingens St. location; Wednesdays in August and September 2 at 2222 Elmwood Ave. location Wilson Super Cruise, Friday June 6 from 5:30 – 9:30 on Young Street in Wilson Niagara Auto Swap Meet & Car Show, June 27-28 at the Niagara County Fairgrounds, 4487 Lake Ave., Rte. 78, Lockport. Tri-Five of WNY Show, July 5 at Great Pumpkin Farm, 11199 Main St., Clarence K-S Auto Swap Meet/Car Show. First Saturday of each month all summer, 8 am – noon, 811 Niagara St., Tonawanda Key Bank Car Show, at Burgerfest, Sat. July 18 from noon – 4 pm, Main Street, Hamburg Quaker Days Car & Motorcycle Show, July 25 on North Buffalo Street in Orchard Park 21st Annual Car, Truck, & Motorcycle Show at Martin’s Fantasy Island, noon – 5 pm, 2400 Grand Island Blvd. 10th Annual Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car Show, (worth the drive!) at the Saratoga Automobile Museum, 110 Avenue of the Pines, Saratoga Springs … and of course there are many others.
